Overview

The Palabra API billing system operates on a minutes-based model for translation services. Users are allocated monthly translation minutes based on their subscription plan, with charges calculated per minute of audio processed.

Core Concepts

  • Translation Minutes: Audio processing time measured in minutes
  • Maximum Rooms: Limit of concurrent WebRTC LiveKit rooms (translation sessions). Each translation session creates a new room, so this represents how many simultaneous translation sessions a user can have. Users must properly close/finish sessions after creation to free up room slots.
  • Maximum Output Languages: Each translation session can output to multiple languages. This limit defines the maximum number of output languages per session. Charges are calculated based on the number of output languages used.
  • Monthly Reload: Automatic balance refresh every month (except Enterprise). Important: All remaining minutes from the previous month are discarded - minutes do not stack or carry over.
  • Overage: Ability to continue using services beyond allocated minutes (paid plans only)
